I was born and raised in Austria Europe and lived there all my life. I had never been to the United States but always wanted to travel and see the nature. I got married in 1996 and on our honeymoon we traveled five weeks along the US East Coast. Although I liked this experience, America was too fast paced and huge for me. My husband dream was to immigrate to the US and in 1997 he played in the US Green Card lottery and won the Green card.
Yes, you heard correctly, there is a US Green card lottery.
Every year millions of applications from all over the world are being submitted and 110K applicants will be randomly chosen and reviewed. Around 55K Green cards are being issued every year. If you meet the requirements you have 6 month to immigrate to the US.

Back to my story: I was not too excited about the Green card opportunity, as I had worked as kindergarten teacher for quiet some time and was in the middle of my career. But destiny gave my husband a business opportunity in the US we could not refuse and so I decided to follow my husband help him fulfil his lifelong dream.
After passing various tests, we arrived at the Los Angeles Airport in February 1998 with only two suitcases for each of us.
We were fortunate enough to establish a career in the US. He as Engineer, me as Buyer at an Aerospace company, which was a personal successful challenge and I was proud to be able to advance. He is my story to success!
After 7 years of hard work, I expected my first child and we had built our first house in a brand new community in Southern California, called Eastvale. We had made the American dream. So I thought.
After the birth of my second child, we decided for me to give up my career and stay at home, but it put a burden on our marriage and six month later, my husband decided to leave the family to start a new life with the HR Manager at the company he was working for.
Yes, I became a single woman with two little children and this journey is not easy, but I survived and can say: "What does not kill one, makes one stronger!" I am proud being able to provide my children with a stable, loving home, but I could not have done it without the help of my close friends and the Mommy's from "The Mommy Network of Eastvale". Thank you!
After 10 years, I applied for the US Citizenship and within 9 month I was able to complete the process and was sworn in in May 2008.
